Responsibilities

The Senior Nutritionist is responsible for formulating advanced animal feed products, leading research trials, and ensuring that feed programs are optimized for health, performance, cost-effectiveness, and regulatory compliance. This role also includes collaboration with cross-functional teams such as marketing, sales, and regulatory teams, and mentoring junior nutritionists.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Feed Formulation:

a. Lead the development of innovative feed formulations tailored to meet specific health, performance, and cost requirements.

b. Optimize feed programs to address health concerns, such as digestibility, immunity, and nutritional efficiency, while considering sustainability.

2. Research & Development:

a. Plan and execute nutrition trials to assess the effectiveness and performance of different feed formulations.

b. Analyze trial results and collaborate with R&D to refine formulations based on research data and market needs.

3. Quality Control & Assurance:

a. Ensure that raw materials and finished feed products comply with safety, nutritional, palatability, and regulatory standards.

b. Collaborate with quality assurance teams to monitor compliance with all regulations and resolve issues related to product quality, raw material sourcing, or manufacturing processes.

c. Collaborate with procurement and production teams to resolve quality issues and optimize ingredient selection.

4. Customer & Market Insights:

a. Provide advanced technical support to internal teams and customers, offering insights into the nutritional benefits of feed products.

b. Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to develop educational resources that highlight product advantages.

5. Innovation & Ingredient Sourcing:

a. Research and assess new raw materials and additives to enhance product sustainability, nutritional content, performance, and cost-efficiency.

b. Collaborate with procurement to ensure that raw materials align with product innovation, regulatory standards, and sustainability goals.

6. Compliance & Sustainability:

a. Ensure that feed formulations comply with regional and international regulations.

b. Lead sustainability initiatives by integrating eco-friendly ingredients and improving the overall environmental footprint of feed programs.

Requirements
Qualifications:
· Education:
o Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Animal Nutrition, Veterinary Science, or related fields.
· Experience:
o 4-8 years of experience in feed formulation, research, or R&D within the nutrition industry, with demonstrated success in feed formulation and product development.
· Skills:
o Proficiency in feed formulation and statistical analysis tools.
o In-depth understanding of raw material functionality, sustainability, and regulatory compliance.
o Knowledge of ingredient sourcing, sustainability, and quality control.
o Strong leadership and communication skills.
o Ability to present complex research and findings to internal teams and external stakeholders.
Hard Skills:
· Advanced Feed Formulation: Expertise in developing and optimizing feed formulations using software like Brill, Format, or equivalent.
· Statistical Analysis: Proficiency in statistical software such as R, SAS, JMP, or SPSS to analyze trial data and performance metrics.
· Quality Control Systems: In-depth knowledge of feed safety standards, testing protocols, and quality control processes.
· Ingredient Sourcing: Ability to evaluate new raw materials and their functional impact on formulations and animal health.
· Regulatory Expertise: Strong understanding of local and global regulations, including UFAS, HACCP standards, and how to ensure compliance across regions.
Soft Skills:
· Leadership: Ability to mentor junior nutritionists, providing guidance on technical work and career growth.
· Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data sets and draw actionable insights.
· Collaboration: Effective collaboration with cross-functional teams such as R&D, procurement, sales, and marketing.
· Presentation Skills: Confident in presenting research findings, data analysis, and product benefits to internal teams and external stakeholders.
· Innovation: Proactive in seeking new ways to improve formulations and stay ahead of market trends and regulatory changes.
